It’s almost time to strap on the skates and start a new season of hockey. If your hockey equipment has been sitting in the garage all summer, it’s a good idea to get it out and see how it fared over the summer.
Here are some tips to get your gear, game ready.
- Inspect your gear. Make sure there are no rips in the pads, torn jerseys, ensure your helmet is in good working order and fits properly.
- Air out your equipment. Set out your stuff in the sunshine for a day, the UV rays help with sanitizing and dry up any dampness.
- Try last year’s stuff on, see if you need to replace something that no longer fits or broken.
- Tighten skate rivets, replace the laces and insoles.
- Items you can throw in the wash: socks, jersey, base layer, shin pads, hockey pants, shoulder pads, elbow pads, and gl.
- Clean your mouth-guard with warm water and soap.
- Make a spray mix of 3 teaspoons of white vinegar with 3 cups of water, spray liberally.
- Inspect the condition of your stick(s), never store a stick near direct heat.
- Get your equipment professionally cleaned before the season starts and throughout the season.
- Look for the Clean Quip truck at games and tournaments to have your gear professionally, cleaned, sanitized and free of any bacteria. We offer very reasonable prices, and the process is done on-site.
Clean Quip is looking for new franchisees; we offer a flexible and sustainable business model.
