Six ways athletes can avoid skin infections

Nutrition, training and mental prowess are ways coaches develop awesome players but how often do you consider the health of your skin and hockey gear?  Athletes, professional or not need to keep healthy and strong and avoid illness, so they don’t end up on the sick list.  It’s not fun to have a nasty illness while your teammates are having a blast on the ice, especially when prevention is possible.

Here are some tips to consider to help keep you healthy this season:

  • Wash hands thoroughly and often with soap and warm water
  • Shower immediately after every practise or game
  • Steer clear of hot tubs or common pools especially if you have open cuts or sores
  • Do not share your towel, clothing or gear with anyone else
  • Properly clean clothes, towels and equipment on a regular basis
  • Address any cuts or open sores with proper first aid and cover before play

The spread of harmful bacteria is a real issue for players, and the number one place for this bacteria to spread is via dirty hockey gear.  When players are injured or cut infections can occur and spread quickly through contact and unclean equipment.  Bacterial infections can lead to a host of health issues which will escalate if ignored.

At a very reasonable cost, Clean Equipment cleans and sanitizes all sports equipment right at the team location. Before and after games, at tournaments, we come to you.
