This year Remembrance Day may look a bit different. There may not be any large gatherings to honor our fallen soldiers. We can continue to support our veterans with the poppy campaign. This year there is a new way to honor our soldiers and support our veterans. This year the Royal Canadian Legion is launching a digital poppy.
During the Covid 19 pandemic, fewer people are carrying cash for the cash contributions. This new program from The Royal Canadian Legion is trying to reach a younger audience. The new nationwide program mypoppy.ca is a virtual poppy. With your monetary contribution you receive a digital two sided poppy to your email.
What is amazing you can have your name on one side and you can choose a name in memory of someone else on the other side. The customization allows you to share a soldier’s story and honour a loved one.
All proceeds go towards helping veterans just as the drop boxes. The digital poppy is available until November 11th 2020
Support our veterans by continuing wearing your poppy on your lapel or purchase your digital poppy on line.
Lest We Forget,
In Flanders Fields In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae ~ May 3, 1915
